Anyone who manages a team will be aware that an annual appraisal, some task based meetings and ad hoc informal sessions are not always enough to keep staff motivated and engaged in their work or provide the manager with an overview of the individual’s potential and level of achievement. An invaluable tool for achieving all of the above is regular one-to-new meetings with staff members; very often as managers we become too task focused and invest insufficient time and energy in understanding and developing our staff in a sustainable way. This session has been designed to explore the usefulness of such meetings and how to conduct them effectively. Short, focused sessions on a regular basis can help to recognise many difficulties and challenges within the team as well as being an effective tool for career development and an opportunity for delegation. This course is open to all who manage a team
